In 2009, after early setbacks (including 4 arrests while in College at FSU) and at age 24, Sam moved from the USA to the UK and founded the electronic cigarette company, SKYCIG. Sam bootstrapped the company initially out of the back of a rental car, and grew it into Europe’s largest e-cig brand in the course of 4 years. In 2013, SKYCIG was acquired by Lorillard Tobacco (NYSE:LO) for $100m, and rebranded Blu Cig.

He continues to work full time in start-ups, currently Founder and CEO of Coworker.com (acquired by IWG PLC in 2021) and as an early stage investor. His investment portfolio includes 400 self storage units in Hong Kong, a micro-brewery in Australia (Black Hops), rental properties across Thailand, and startups investments including Paytient, DeliverLogic, and Glints.  It was his new journey into the investment world with the limitless strategies and emerging asset classes created the desire to start Invest Like a Boss Sam has visited more than 100 countries while living off passive income and pursuing his bucket list. He later published a video in the form of a poem he wrote to capture this journey.

Johnny went from quitting a well paid corporate job in California in 2008 to move to Thailand to work as a Scuba Instructor and train professionally as a Muay Thai Fighter. It wasn’t until 2013 that he made his first $100 online when he started his first e-commerce store. He has built and maintained 6 figures of passive annual income and now spends his time traveling the world, and finding new ways to invest his passive income.
